Topic 4.3 ACTIVITY

Before moving on to the next module, we invite you to carry out a little self-analysis: see what is the degree of real participation of the people who are the recipients of our projects? For this, we can use the successive stages of the project as a guide:

STAGE WHAT IS THE PARTICIPATION OF THE PEOPLE? WHO DECIDES IN THE END?
1. Diagnosis and problem analysis
2. The selection of opinions
3. Project planning
4. Implementation
5. Monitoring and evaluation

Depending on the result, you can determine where you need to be more participatory and you can try to climb the ladder of participation step by step. Success will depend, among other things: on the degree of organization of the people themselves, on the flexibility of the organization or administration, and on the availability of all the actors, starting with the technicians, who must modify certain attitudes and work methods. That is why it is very important to be aware of the type of participation that we are part of in a group or that we promote as technicians, since we can, without realizing it, fall into a type of misleading participation that does not generate processes of critical autonomy, emancipation or citizen empowerment.

It is important to recognize that the result depends on the objective, the situation, the participants and the ability to use the tools appropriately.
